Winning on Wednesday - "Tears of the Saints" by Leeland

This project started out as a request to put together a slide show of the lyrics for our Sunday morning service. I've heard this song several times and really like it and was excited to work on it. Originally, we hoped to show a video created by someone else using the same music. That didn't work out, so I was just going to put some slides together and manually advance them as the someone sang the song.

However, as I listened to it over and over, the message really began to speak to me. Listen and watch the video. Read the words as they appear.

This song was written by an 18-year-old! (Learn more about Leeland.) Wow. Where are the tears from the saints today? Where is our heart for those that are lost and unsaved? What will it take for us to reach out to them?

My prayer is that God will soften my heart and bring BACK the tears for the lost.

Note: Based on a post by Chris, I've chosen not to make the video "embeddable". Who knows what else someone would watch here or what site the video would end up on.

Rep. John Spratt - Something Positive

You've read my differences with Rep. Spratt from time to time. The differences range from taxation to health care and a good bit of ground in between. However, to be fair, I thought it necessary to make a note when something positive took place.

A little background: My wife is currently on a mission trip to Scotland. About 15 weeks ago, she submitted all of the necessary paperwork to obtain a passport. This was enough time according to the State Department. However, at two weeks away from the departure date - still no passport. Anyway, our pastor urged her to call Rep. Spratt's office for some help.

Here's the good part. Michelle called. The staffer's were very helpful, once they established that she (Michelle) had allotted enough time. They took her information and tracked down her passport application and it's current status. Within two working days, Michelle had her passport (with about 5 days to spare).

So....even though I have political differences with Rep. Spratt and his office, I must say "thank you" for your help in this. BTW, they are having a VERY successful mission trip so far.

Wow. I hadn't even THOUGHT about that!! Now fall and winter won't be so grim and dreary. We'll still have the birds around.
